Beginner Kayak in Theinsville
Join a Riveredge Adventure Educator for a beautiful paddle above the dam in Thiensville. Kayak by Blue Herons hunting for their next meal, search for Eagles perched in the trees, and look through the clear, tannic water to find fish swimming below. No experience? No problem! We’ll have you paddling like a pro in no time! We’ll provide kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. Don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, water, and enthusiasm. We will use single person kayaks.
This kayak has been moved from Waubedonia to Thiensville due to low water level.

Introduction to Kayaking for Kids
Introduce your child to the world of paddle sports in a fun, safe, and hands-on environment! This group class is designed for youth (ages 10-17) with little to no kayaking experience. We start out with an on-land introduction to equipment, basic paddle strokes, and water safety. Then, we get on the water and use games and group activities to learn to maneuver a kayak and build confidence in a boat.
All gear is provided. Participants must know how to swim. Maximum student/instructor ratios are 5:1. Space is limited to 10 participants. Day pass to Yahr Park is required and not included in the fee.
Ages 10-17 only

OWBC: Birding the Cedarburg Bog by Canoe or Kayak
Hosted by the Friends of the Cedarburg Bog in partnership with the Ozaukee-Washington Birding Coalition
Mud Lake in the Cedarburg Bog is the largest and least visited lake in all of Ozaukee County. During this outing, we will explore Mud Lake and its surroundings in search of a true wilderness experience only 20 miles north of a major metropolis. We will also be in search of late migrants and avian residents uncommon to rare in southeastern Wisconsin. This event will include some trail walks and about 1.5 miles of paddling. Canoes are provided. A limited number of personal kayaks are allowed, but only by advance request.
Group limit: 12 | Suggested donation: $10 per person
Meet at UWM Field Station: 3095 Blue Goose Rd, Saukville, WI 53080
This event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Bog Friends. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For directions or to register visit www.bogfriends.org (click on the Events tab), send an email to fieldstn@uwm.edu, or call 262-675-6844.
