The Soil Underfoot
with Mary Ann Ihm
Besides being a non-profit education center, Wellspring has been an organic farm for 35 seasons. Mary Ann Ihm, the founder of this 40-year-old organization, has had her fingers in the soil for over 45 years. Sometimes called “the Compost Queen”, she loves to help people learn how to build and enhance the soil. To her, soil is a living community with nutrients that nourish growing plants. Wellspring is a neighbor of Riveredge, just across the river to the north and has partnered with us in the Growing Green program this year.

Winter Constellations
with Scott Nehring
Get on board as we take a journey through the Winter sky. We’ll begin with the constellation Orion to talk about his belt and nebula. From there we will star hop our way to Taurus to visit Aldebaran. We’ll then journey over to the Pleiades and talk a bit about its history and myths. From there we shoot out to Andromeda. Some 3 million light years away, it is the furthest we can see with the unaided eye. Then move on to Pegasus to visit the Great Square. At this point we’ll zoom back towards Earth making a quick stop at Sirius, the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere, some 7 light years distant. Upon our return to Earth, we’ll spend some time learning about the James Webb telescope, as well as the new Moon rocket (Artemis) that NASA is about to launch into Lunar orbit. Hope you can join the tour.
