Nature Tots:
Finding Frogs
Join us as we focus on frogs this morning around Farm Pond! We’ll discover where frogs hide, how they survive, what they eat, and the sounds they make as we jump into the exploration of these amazing amphibians.
Nature Tots is an early childhood program designed for learners ages 2-5 years old, accompanied by an adult guardian (little siblings ages 0-1 are welcome to tag along). A Riveredge Naturalist will focus on outdoor exploration, literacy, physical development, nature intelligence, and social development. Programs will be cancelled and refunded in the case of inclement weather.

Fabulous Feathered Friends
Learn all about the birds that call Riveredge home! We’ll listen to their calls, find out what they eat, and how they build their nests. We’ll even make a bag full of nesting materials to help birds in our own backyards.

Growing Green:
Spring Herb Walk
with Linda Conroy
of Moonwise Herbs, LLC.
Join herbalist and forager Linda Conroy as we explore the plants that are emerging with the arrival of spring. This is such a celebratory time for foragers. Each season brings with it, new plants and plant stages to identify. During this walk, we will learn to identify the early spring plants, best practices for harvesting as well as how to prepare them for optimal nourishment and healing. We will make a wild salad for sampling and everyone will take home a remedy or condiment that they make themselves. Premade wild snacks and drinks will be shared at the end of the walk.

FROG FEST!
Riveredge’s watery worlds burst with life throughout Spring! Gather your family and join the Riveredge Educators to search for frogs, tadpoles, turtles, salamanders and other creatures that live in our wetland habitats. Rotate to different stations where you’ll get familiar with frog calls (ribbit! croak! burp!), scoop for tadpoles and insects, learn about leeches, and talk turtles with our resident Box Turtle, Glitter! We’ll have a wonderful, amphibian-inspired craft for you as well.
Pre-registration is highly recommended. There will be limited walk-in spots available. Muck boots are recommended. Scooping materials like nets, buckets, and strainers can be left at home- as they are not allowed within the Riveredge Sanctuary! We look forward to exploring with you this spring!
