Tips for a Sweet Experience

  • All sugarin’ experiences, registration, and parking start at our main Visitor Center building. We’ll have shuttles throughout the event to transport you down to the sugarbush and back.
  • Offsite parking takes place at Holy Trinity Church in Newburg. We’ll have shuttles to take you to the festival and back to your car.
  • Walk-in registration will be available at the center from 10 AM to 2 PM. Pre-registration can still be made online until Saturday night- pre-registered participants will have a separate check-in line that often moves much faster than those who are registering day-of (all you’ll need to do is give us your name).
  • We like to call maple sugarin’ the “fifth season” because it’s the perfect transition point between winter and spring. That also means, however, conditions are highly variable from day to day, even amongst different spots at Riveredge on the same day. Some trails may be muddy with melted snow while others may still have small patches of ice. We recommend dressing in layers and making sure you have shoes that can both get wet and give you good traction!
  • The event is designed to be a festival style experience where you can move at your own pace and in any order between stations so you can come anytime between 10 AM and 2 PM. The event runs until 3 PM, but we recommend AT LEAST an hour to see all the stations.
  • All participants get a pancake with a pickle & Riveredge’s homemade maple syrup. Don’t forget to visit the NEW Sugarbush House to get yours! Additional lunch and food options will be available for purchase.
  • Tasty treats are available for purchase from barbecue sauce, to 100% maple candy, and of course Riveredge’s maple syrup.
  • The Fermentorium will be on site serving local beer for those 21 and older. ID required. Cash purchases for beer only!

Maple Sugarin’ Day for Scouts & Youth Groups

March 9, 2019 @ 9:45 am 4:00 pm

The sap is running and sugarin’ time is here! Join a naturalist for a guided tour of the sugarbush, tap a tree, collect sap and gather around the evaporator to see how boiling sap becomes syrup. Enjoy the final product on a pancake before heading for home. There are three available time slots for your troop or group, but they all usually fill early each year! 9:45-11:30AM (full)  NOON-1:45PM  2:15-4PM Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Space is limited. Fee: $6.00 per child or adult. Please call Cassie at 262-416-1364 for more information and to register. Tips for a Sweet Experience!
  • Please note- all hikes and sugarin’ experiences start at our West Parking Lot on County Rd Y! Parking is allowed along Singing Hill Road but prohibited along HWY Y.
  • Each participant will have an opportunity to taste sumac berries, maple sugar, and a piping hot organic pancake with 100% Riveredge maple syrup. Unfortunately, we do not have food allergy substitutes for those with sensitivities to dairy, eggs, nuts, and gluten.
  • Sugarin’ season weather can be unpredictable! Please dress accordingly for an outdoor adventure. Programs will go on in spite of weather conditions.
