Kids Cooking Series: National Chili Day

Nature Tots: The Mitten

Everyone cuddle in for this well loved story! We’ll create animal masks, do a mitten match up, and search for animal homes outside. Learn tons about winter animals and have fun with our friends!

Nature Tots is an early childhood program designed for learners ages 1-4 years old, accompanied by an adult guardian. A Riveredge Naturalist will focus on outdoor exploration, literacy, physical development, nature intelligence, and social development.

Little Explorers Playgroup

Let’s gather in the Natural Play Area and share the wonder of nature through outdoor play. We will also venture into forests, fields, ponds, and more. Nature sensory bins for babies and exploration tools for older children will be available. Indoor activities will be planned in case of inclement weather.

Fee: $5 per person for Trail Pass Members and Non-members and free for All-Access Members

Wild Animal Finders: Scat Detectives

Become a scat detective and discover the animals that are active during winter by searching for the signs they leave behind.  Please dress for the weather and wear insulated boots.  Hike will be on foot or snowshoes.  Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

Nature Tots: environmental education for children ages 3-5 with an adult

What happens under the ice when the pond freezes over? We will use pond scoops and fishing poles to discover who is still awake in the cold water and role play the different water creatures we observe.

Winter Adventures: Snowflakes

What do you know about snowflakes? Join us to learn about the wonder of snowflakes! We’ll hike the Riveredge trails and use snowflake mats and ID sets to observe snowflakes up close and personal. Please dress for the weather and wear insulated boots. The hike will be in snowshoes or on foot. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

The pond may be frozen, but it is still teeming with life!  Discover the underwater critters in the Farm Pond and learn how they survive the cold winter.  Please dress for the weather and wear insulated boots.  Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
