SUMMER DAY ADVENTURES A day trip for your daycare, scouting, or school group!

3 & up

a summer day adventure with your group of young explorers…

Check out Summer Day Adventures at Riveredge Nature Center! Enjoy a 90-minute, outdoor educational program for ages 3 & up led by a Riveredge Naturalist. Using our equipment and inquiry-based program, your group will experience the joys of exploring nature in the summer. Choose from several engaging program options, including “It’s a Bug’s Life,” “Life Around the Lily Pad,” and others. (Keep scrolling for the full list!)

Summer Day Adventures begin in late June and run through mid-August. We can work with your timing needs between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Let us know the number of students and age of the children in your group, and we can work together to get you scheduled! Pre-registration is required.

There is a fee of $6.50 per child participant unless otherwise noted, but no fee for adult helpers. We require a $25.00 deposit to hold date and time, with the remainder of your fees due on the day of your program.

LIFE AROUND THE LILY PAD

Frogs, tadpoles, turtles, fish and nymphs await discovery. Explore this watery world and discover how the pond is a wonderful hatchery for many fantastic creatures.

RIVER EXPLORATION

(for kids who have finished 3rd grade and older, max 30 students)

Bring your old shoes to wade in the Milwaukee River and experience the river from a very different point of view. Explore the aquatic life and the many creatures that come to the river for food, shelter and water. In the event of high water, River Exploration will be held at the pond.

SURVIVOR CHALLENGE

(for kids who have finished 3rd grade and older, max 30 students)

Do you have what it takes to survive? Participants are faced with a set of challenges to test their survival skills! Strategize how to cross an acid river, construct a rustic shelter for protection from the elements, and create cordage from natural materials.

GEOCACHE ADVENTURE $7.50/child

(for kids who have finished 5th grade and older, max 60 students)

Join us for this outdoor treasure hunt. Students will hone navigation skills as they use a GPS unit to find their way to several hidden caches at Riveredge. GPS units will be provided by Riveredge Nature Center. (Heads up: We’ll need your group to provide one adult leader per GPS unit to ensure student safety as they roam the trails!)
