Great

Important: 7/26 Frothy Forage Update

We appreciate your flexibility in offering to join for our augmented summer date of Saturday, August 15.

Riveredge has decided, due to a convergence of factors, to cancel the 2020 Frothy Forage. Several issues have arisen including safety considerations, health department recommendations, as well as the desire to ensure a quality guest and purveyor experience. To make a long story short, if we can’t ensure a safe, quality experience for everyone involved, we aren’t going to offer an experience that is marginal by comparison to expectations.

So we’ve made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Frothy Forage, with the plan to resume our original spring Frothy Forage for 2021. We apologize for this cancellation, please just know that we have everyone’s best interest in mind in coming to this conclusion.

THANK YOU for your flexibility in working with Riveredge during this awkward and constantly changing Covid-19 landscape. We hope that you will be able to join us for the 2021 Frothy Forage on Saturday, May 22.

If you would like a refund for your ticket purchase price, that is completely understandable, and refunds can be granted by clicking this link and filling out the requested information by Saturday, August 15. After August 15, any outstanding ticket funds will be presumed as a donation to Riveredge. There is no need to cancel time slots reserved to participate in the Frothy Trail Hike.

Thank you for being a part of Riveredge Nature Center, and we look forward to clinking glasses with you on Saturday, May 22 of next year.

2019 Frothy Forage Riveredge

Do You Enjoy?

Discovering (and drinking!) the best local beers, ciders, meads, wines and other concoctions?

Hiking in the woods and soaking up fresh air and sunshine?

Protecting the natural world and giving back to the community?

Doing all those things AT THE SAME TIME?

Then you're in luck! The Frothy Forage is a unique craft beer, wine, and other drink festival fundraiser where the surroundings are just as refreshing as the drinks. Enjoy three hours of unlimited sampling from some of our favorite local purveyors while surrounded by 379 acres of Riveredge Nature Center's wild Wisconsin.

Add in live music, and food trucks providing delicious food to fuel your adventure.

For 2020 the Forage portion of the event will be expanded. Brewers will be stationed at the Riveredge Visitor's Center, Sugarbush, House, and the new River Outpost - providing a fantastic adventure through the Riveredge forest.

The Drinks

Each year, we invite our favorite breweries, cideries, and meaderies to bring the drinks they're most excited to show off to the world! Enjoy three hours of unlimited sampling and the opportunity to meet local producers who are as passionate about the supporting the great outdoors as you!

We're just beginning to fill out our roster of participants for the 2020 Frothy Forage, here are the purveyors confirmed thusfar! Here is what one of our purveyors from last year said about their experience:

“The Frothy Forage is a truly unique beer sampling event. Few other festivals can rival the scenery and hospitality that Riveredge can offer. With all of the festivals to choose from these days, Frothy Forage is one to circle on the calendar.” - Kristopher Volkman, Founder, The Fermentorium

PLUS, a special bomber auction from our friends at the Wisconsin Beer Enthusiasts! See what rare and hidden gems you can take home at a steal!

The Beer Trek

This we believe: sampling great drinks surrounded by forests and prairies is awesome. And sampling great drinks IN the forests and prairies is even awesome-er. That's why in addition to all the amazing breweries and wineries available for sampling in our yard, we also open a special Beer Trek through Riveredge's trails!

The Frothy Forage is evolving a little this year, with the emphasis on Forage. Drink stations will be located at the Visitor's Center, Sugarbush House, as well as the River Outpost. Groups will begin at either the Visitor's Center, or the River Outpost, and trek toward the opposite location with the Sugarbush House in between.

Waiting for you on the trails? Our incredible sponsors below (stay tuned as we release more!) will have special stations with more great craft drinks on hand for you to sample. Yes, that's right, enjoy a scenic hike and enjoy some delicious drinks while you're doing it. Did someone say heaven...?

Questions? Give Riveredge a call at (262)375-2715.

The Questions

Two things. First off, at Riveredge, we’re dedicated to redefining the relationship of a nature center to the community and the relationship of individuals to the natural world. That belief is why we continue to introduce innovative new ways to show people just how easy and enjoyable getting outside can be. Secondly, events like the Frothy allow us to raise money in order keep this one-of-a-kind land healthy and available for generations to come. All proceeds from this event benefit will go directly to the restoration and preservation of our 379 acres of wild Wisconsin.

While we're not specifically saying no kids allowed, please note this is definitely an event aimed solely at adults. The Frothy Forage doesn't have any kid activities or areas planned, and it's not really designed to handle them. Hundreds of adults will be enjoying alcoholic beverages and behaving as such. Babies in tow shouldn't be a problem, but any older kids would be at the responsibility/discretion of the parent. Only attendees ages 21+ are able to sample alcoholic beverages, no exceptions.

It sure does! This party goes on rain or shine though! We'll have multiple structures to both help give shade and serve as rain cover, if needed. If heavy rain threatens, we've also got plenty of inside space we can combine with the tent to keep everyone dry and keep the drinks flowing! As with any hike, we recommend checking the forecast and wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.

Dangit! You're a tricky one! We'd love to answer any questions you have - please give us a call at 262-375-2715 or contact Ed Makowski, Riveredge's Communications Manager, at emakowski@riveredge.us

We are watching federal and state recommendations closely. At this time we have rescheduled the event for August 15. All those that have purchased tickets for the event will have a ticket reserved for the new date. If you cannot make the new date you can request a full refund. Stay tuned for more details.
