Virtual NJC Bird Club | Duck Hunting & North America’s Conservation Model

July 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Bruce Ross, executive director of the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association, will answer this question: How can waterfowl harvest produce waterfowl conservation? When recent studies point to dramatic declines of most North American bird species, why do waterfowl numbers buck this trend so significantly? His 40-minute multimedia presentation looks at the U.S. approach to conservation built on the emotional link between hunters and the habitat in which they pursue game. It specifically considers the conservation impact of organizations like the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association and their efforts to strengthen our human connection to the environment around us. Bruce is also an Ozaukee County supervisor and former board president of the Friends of the Cedarburg Bog.
