Studying Wisconsin: The Life of Increase Lapham explores the remarkable life and achievements of Wisconsin’s first scientist with Paul Hayes, author and retired Journal/Sentinel reporter. Lapham identified and preserved thousands of botanical specimens. He surveyed and mapped the state’s effigy mounds and published the first book in Wisconsin. He was also a force behind the creation of the National Weather Service. Studying Wisconsin chronicles the life and times of this amazing pioneer citizen-scientist.
