It’s not every day you get to release a baby sturgeon into Lake Michigan.
Head to Lakeshore State Park in downtown Milwaukee for the 13th annual Sturgeon Fest on September 29, 2018 and enjoy a day of free, family fun and make a huge difference while doing it.
Sturgeon Fest celebrates Riveredge’s 25 year partnership with the Wisconsin DNR to bring back Lake Sturgeon, a critically important species both environmentally and culturally, to the Milwaukee River, where they haven’t been seen in over 100 years.
Be a part of this amazing comeback story and join thousands of other community members when you sponsor a young sturgeon and hand release them into Lake Michigan. You’ll even get a tracking code to register your fish so you can be notified if the DNR finds your fish in the future. Some sturgeon can live up to 150 years, so you’ve got plenty of chances.
The festivities continue all day with games and activities for kids and adults alike, educational booths, delicious local food trucks, and so much more!
Sturgeon sponsorship for 2018 will open on September 1st. Keep an eye on on our Sturgeon Fest website for all the details on this awesome family festival, the sturgeon project, and how you can help bring back a prehistoric species!
