The elusive Sugar Dragon of Riveredge… every year he helps Riveredge boil sap collected from the maple trees in the forests of Riveredge property. Join us on January 31st for the Sugar Dragon Scurry and learn more about this friendly winter reptile.
Choose between a 5K or 2K distance! Prizes awarded for top finishers of the 5K. Participate as an individual or as a family. Costumes welcome! Food and fun await after the race, including warm Riveredge pancakes!

12:45 YMCA Healthy Living will lead a warm up
1:00 5K Competitive Race Starts (Prizes awarded to top finishers)
1:15 2K Family Race Starts (Sleds welcome!)
Activities: crafts, sledding, snowman decorating, dog sledding (2:30-3:30, under 18 only)
2:00 Kids Race (8 & under)
2:30 Awards & Pancakes in the barn
3:30 Activities Close
4:00 All Rental snowshoes are returned
Unlimited family registration: $50.00
Individual registration: $25.00 ($35.00 after January 20th.)
5K limited to first 30 registrants. Kids 10 & under, includes free snowshoe use for the course. Kids under 10 must be with adult.
No Refunds will be issued: Winter run/hike will replace snowshoeing snow conditions are poor.
What To Bring For The Event
- Snowshoes: It is the 5K participant’s responsibility to bring snowshoes with them. There will be a limited amount of snowshoes available to rent. Reserve your snowshoes during registration.
- Hiking boots to wear with your snowshoes. Or, just hike without snowshoes (fun waves only – competitive wave must wear snowshoes if weather allows)
- Gloves, hat, you’re going to be covered in snow!
- Long tights or water proof/breathable pants or good ol’ snow pants if you’ll be walking
