Science for Everyone at LacLawrann Conservancy- The Milwaukee River Report Card

February 20, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Milwaukee Riverkeeper established its citizen-based water quality monitoring program in 2006 and to date has trained over 400 volunteers to test water quality in the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic Rivers and their tributaries. Volunteers monitor for many different parameters, including bacteria, chloride, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and phosphorus. Data from the program is shared with the WDNR and is used by biologists in making management decisions. The program has expanded to include road salt, emerging contaminant, and native mussel monitoring.  Join Cheryl Nenn from Milwaukee Riverkeeper to get an overview of how Riverkeeper has used citizens to effectively collect valuable data and affect water policy.

Science for Everyone is a monthly lecture series sponsored by Riveredge and the Friends of LacLawrann Conservancy and the UWM Field Station. The series covers a wide range of topics including natural history, science, public policy and the environment. The programs are for the curious of any age and are open to the public. The lectures will both educate and entertain.

Fee: Free ($5 Donation Appreciated)  Please note that this month’s event is at LacLawrann.
