Science for Everyone at LacLawrann Conservancy- Protecting Our Groundwater Supply

December 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Hydrogeologist and resident Dr. Douglas S Cherkauer has been working with the town of Richfield on a comprehensive groundwater monitoring program for more than a decade now. In order to assure that the groundwater resource that supplies all of Richfield residents with water will always be sufficient, the community developed a unique, three-part program to protect its water supply. The program involves: 1. land use planning 2. bimonthly monitoring of water levels in wells and waterways and 3. an ordinance that requires new developments to assess their water needs in advance. Join Dr. Cherkauer to learn how the plan is working.

Science for Everyone is a monthly lecture series sponsored by Riveredge and the Friends of LacLawrann Conservancy and the UWM Field Station. The series covers a wide range of topics including natural history, science, public policy and the environment. The programs are for the curious of any age and are open to the public. The lectures will both educate and entertain.

Fee: Free ($5 Donation Appreciated)  Please note that this month’s event is at LacLawrann.
