Noel J. Cutright Pike Lake/ Hartford Area Field Trip
April 3, 2016Free
Come join us for our annual Pike Lake/ Hartford area field trip. It is planned for Sunday, April 3rd. This trip is planned to catch a good portion of the spring migration of waterfowl through the area. In the past we have had swans, loons, 8-12 various duck species, Pied-billed and Horned Grebes, various gulls, as well as Sandhill Cranes, a variety of Woodpeckers, Kinglets, thrushes, E. Towhees, various sparrow species, owls, and perhaps a pair of Bald Eagles.
We will meet in Jackson at 7:00 am. The Park and Ride just east of Hwy 45 will be our meeting site. If you come in on Hwy 60, proceed to the west side of town. Just before you get to Hwy 45 you will see the Main Street Center or BP station. That is at the intersection of Hwy 60 and County P. Turn north at that intersection and you will find the park and ride about a block down on the left.
From there we will check out Big Cedar Lake, Wildlife Drive, Pike Lake and portions of the state park, Libby’s lagoons, and any possible flooded fields in the area. Just a reminder, you will need a state park sticker, which can be purchased there. The field trip will probably end about 12 noon or 1 o’clock. Hope you can join us.
