May 28, 2016 - May 29, 2016
Noel Cutright Bird Club’s
Southern Wis. Field Trip
May 28 & 29
So. Kettle Moraine to Wyalusing State Park
Join us on this great field trip across southern Wis. We will meet at 6 am on Sat. May 28th at the Mackie Picnic Area just east of Hwy 67 (south of Oconomowoc) on Hwy ZZ. After checking out this area we will explore other locations within the southern Kettle Moraine S.F. We may then check out Paradise Valley, Beaver Dam Lake, and several other hot spots as we work our way across southern Wis. We will spend the night in Prairie du Chein at the Brisbois Motor Inn. If you would like to join us, the group will probably go out to one of the local restaurants for dinner that evening. Then, after dinner, anyone who did not eat too much can join us as we venture out to find Nighthawks and Whip-poor-wills.
There is a block of rooms set aside at the motel. The cost is $60 per night. If you are interested in joining us, please let Dennis Panicucci know as soon as possible (262) 673-3898.
Sunday morning we will have an early start. Arrangements have been made with the motel to set out breakfast early. We will then try to make it to Wyalusing S.P. in time for the morning chorus. After thoroughly exploring all the possibilities there, we will bird our way back with probable stops at Gov. Dodge S.P., Spring Green Prairie, the Arena Boat Landing, and Nine Springs in Madison. On the way back we usually try to find somewhere to stop off for a late morning brunch.
Some of the targeted Birds we hope to see are:
Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Cerulean Warbler, Kentucky Warble
Prothonotary War. Yellow-throated War La. Waterthrush Redheaded Woodpecker
