Noel J. Cutright Bird Club | Century-old Island Refuges Right Here in Wisconsin
June 4, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Sadie O’Dell is the lead biologist for Horicon Marsh, Fox River, Green Bay, and Gravel Island National Wildlife Refuges. Most of us know quite a bit about Horicon, but now we will get to learn from her about the Green Bay and Gravel Island refuges, which were preserved over 100 years ago as breeding grounds for water birds. Today these refuge islands still protect critical habitat for native birds and endangered species in the Great Lakes Basin. O’Dell will discuss the biological, ecological and cultural value of the islands, current research projects, and future management plans for Plum and Pilot Islands.
At 6:00pm, from May through September, hikes are led by Mary Holleback, the Riveredge adult programs manager, across a variety of habitats. The Bird Club meeting begins at 7:00pm.
Bird Club is free to all.
