Frog Fest! | Program Full

June 7, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This program is full.

Riveredge’s watery worlds burst with life throughout Spring! Gather your family and join Riveredge Educators to search for frogs, tadpoles, turtles, salamanders and other creatures that live in our wetland habitats. Rotate to 5 different stations where you’ll get familiar with frog calls (ribbit! croak! burp!), scoop for tadpoles and insects, learn about leeches, and talk turtles with our resident Box Turtle, Bling. We even have a take-home bag of crafts so that you can continue the fun in your backyard!

This treasured spring festival has been modified to comply with Department of Health Services Covid19 safety guidelines. Riveredge Nature Center is committed to providing healthy and happy human and natural experiences. You must register each attending individual in your family (headcount is vital) and sign up for your arrival time through a Sign-up Genius link. Until further notice, due to Covid-19 concerns and social distancing requirements, “day of” registrations will not be accepted for Riveredge programs. Advance registration is required and the deadline for Frog Fest is Saturday, June 6th at 12:00pm. For more details on how the health of all participants, staff, and volunteers will be implemented, please see “Tips for Hopping Good Time” below.

All Access Members: $15.00/family           Trail Pass Member: $$20.00/family               Non-Members: $30.00/family

Pre-registration online is required for this year’s Frog Fest Event. This event is designed to be a safe, outdoor family event which practices outdoor exploration and social distancing. Please note- your family is being asked to register here AND sign up for an arrival time slot- so that we can keep our Riveredge family and staff safe! We are happy to answer any questions you may have about attending this event. Please contact Cassie at cbauer@riveredge.us or call (262)416-1364.

Tips for a Hopping Good Time!

  • This event is held entirely outdoors! So please prepare for the weather and don’t forget your boots! Follow the arrows to the check-in table when you arrive for your assigned time slot. Restrooms are available onsite for public use.
  • Small groups will be limited to 8 people as they rotate from station to station.
  • We ask that your personal frog catching gear like nets, scoopers, and buckets stay at home (due to possible invasive species contamination). Each station on site will have specialized tools and instructions on how to safely and humanely enjoy all creatures we find during the fest.
  • Unfortunately- hand sanitizer and amphibians just don’t mix well! Many amphibians breathe through their skin and these sanitizers, while helpful to humans, are harmful to frogs. You are welcome to bring and use sanitizer if you wish, but Riveredge Nature Center will not be providing any hand sanitizer at locations where amphibians or animals are being handled.
  • We are asking Frog Fest staff and participants to wear masks during this event. Please note that Riveredge Nature Center does not provide or have any masks for purchase onsite. Please be respectful of our organization’s efforts to keep everyone safe and comfortable in the outdoors.
  • If you’re particularly enthusiastic in your frog-hunting, you just might get wet. Bring a change of clothes.

Please don’t hesitate to call us at (262)375-2715 if you have any questions or run into any problems. We’re here to help! Thank you so much for your patience as we work to continue to improve our services for you!
