Fly Fishing for Salmon

September 14, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

It’s almost time. Soon those anadromous, herculean-like, king salmon will be coming into the rivers and streams from Lake Michigan to spawn.

Are you ready? If you are a fly fisherman and have been thinking about what you need to catch one or more of these fish, join us for a workshop we call “Fly Fishing For Salmon.” (You will be home in time for the Packer game, because it is a late game.) We will discuss salmon fishing in general. What you need for equipment, what flies you should have in your box and how to fish them (I will show you how to tie some simple egg patterns), where and when to find these fish, and when the cohos and steelheads and browns will follow. Will we be fishing? Unfortunately, no. (The fish cannot get that far up river.)

What do you bring? Yourself is all that is required, but if you want to bring your equipment, that’s fine. We will look at it and tell you if it can handle the fish or not.

Fee: $30 for all members, $35 for non-members.
