Building Closed, Trails Always Open
February 25, 2018
To ensure we’re using our resources most efficiently, the Riveredge visitor center will normally be closed on weekends in January and February. We love to snowshoe and ski with the best of them though, so we will have special pop-up building hours on winter weekends if snow conditions are favorable for winter adventure!
Unfortunately, a combination of melting snow, rain, and freezing temps have made trails extremely icy and extremely hard to traverse by foot, let alone by snowshoe or skis. Therefore, while the building will be open during the day Saturday for our many programs going on, we will be closed Sunday. Next weekend, with the coming of March, we will return to our normal weekend hours with the visitor center open Saturdays from 9 AM to 4 PM and closed on Sundays.
The good news? Our trails are always open to the public every single day from dawn to dusk, whether the visitor center is open or not. Riveredge members can always access the trails for free and non-members can pay the small trail admission fee ($4 per adult, $2 per kid, or $12 for a family) in the deposit box on the front door of the visitor center.
If you do hit the trails this weekend, we highly reccomend wearing yak traks (or a similar piece of equipment) and plan your hike accordingly knowing the building and bathrooms will not be open.
