Noel J. Cutright Bird Club – Birdscaping in the Midwest

October 2, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Is your yard bird friendly? Just in time for winter, learn from Mariette Nowak, author of the widely read “Birdscaping in the Midwest,” how you can increase the variety of birds in your yard by growing native plants offering birds their natural habitat and a yearlong smorgasbord of berries, nuts, seeds and insects. Gardeners and native plant enthusiasts can play a vital role in restoring & preserving native communities that support not only birds, but also other wildlife including butterflies, bees, and bats. Mariette was director of the Wehr Nature Center in Milwaukee County for 18 years. As an avid birder, she is newsletter editor for the Lakeland Audubon Society and a past board member of the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology. She also is founder and president of the Kettle Moraine chapter of Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes and was vice-president of the national organization. In Walworth County, she serves on the Park Committee and the Town of Troy Planning Commission.

The bird club meets the first Tuesday of every month. It brings together those who enjoy observing and learning more about birds and sharing these interests with others. All activities are free & open to the public. Attend a meeting or field trip to become a member and receive the electronic bimonthly newsletter.
