Let’s Go Birding
Columbia County Ponds Saturday, March 25th, 2017 6:00 AM
Hello Everyone. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the itch to get out and do some birding. Therefore, I’m organizing a somewhat impromptu field trip. There have been good reports of various waterfowl and geese showing up in the last couple of weeks. So if anyone would like to join us, on Sat, Mar. 25th I’d like to go over and check out Columbia County just west of Columbus. We will scope out the Madison Audubon’s Goose Pond and then check out many other ponds and flooded fields in this usually very productive area. With a little luck we should be able to find a good variety of waterfowl, and perhaps several types of geese. Our meeting spot will be at the McDonald’s in Hartford between 6:00 and 6:15. McDonald’s is at the corner of Hwy 60 and Co. Hwy K. That is the first stop light as you enter Hartford from the east. The field trip will end around noon after birding the causeway (Co. Hwy V) over Lake Wisconsin. You might want to bring a bag lunch or catch something to eat on the way back.
