Taylor Pichler is from West Bend, Wisconsin, and is currently an undergraduate at Northland College where he is studying to earn a Natural Resources major with an emphasis in fisheries and wildlife ecology. Taylor has a strong passion for wildlife conservation which has led him to want to pursue a career in the field of conservation biology. In addition, Taylor enjoys many outdoor hobbies such as hunting, backcountry hiking, biking, and archery. Taylor began working at Riveredge Nature Center as a research and conservation volunteer in the summer of 2016, and will now be returning as an intern to survey the presence of bobcat in southeastern Wisconsin. Taylor will also be assisting Riveredge with other various biological surveys, and care for lake sturgeon in the Streamside Rearing Facility.
GIS Research Intern
My name is Jaidyn Hranicka and I’m from Hingham, Wisconsin. I’m currently studying Reclamation, Environment and Conservation with an emphasis in biology at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Since I was little, I’ve always had a love for conservation and the environment. I enjoy various hobbies from hiking, fishing, and gardening to playing guitar and reading. I’m extremely excited to be an intern at Riveredge this summer and learn new things that will benefit me in my future.
Community Outreach Coordinator and Water Literacy Intern (Community Rivers Project)
As a recent UW-Madison graduate (2016), Melanie is excited to start applying her environmental studies background to the real world. “The Community Rivers Project will allow me to help bring people and nature together, in my home state. I look forward to meeting Newburg’s residents through the project and working together to raise awareness of, and love for, our rivers!” When not at Riveredge, Melanie loves biking, running and hiking around Wisconsin, usually with camera in hand.
Community Outreach Coordinator Intern (Community Rivers Project)
Kendra is currently the Scientist in Residence for the Cedarburg School District. Prior to this position, she spent several years revolving around the Northern Illinois hardwoods and prairies. She was born in rural South Dakota, resulting in an early-onset love of snakes and good reason for a lifetime of missing pop cultural references. She graduated from Luther College in 2007 with a BA in Early English Literature and Applied Arts, and from Northern Illinois University in 2011 with an MS Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certificate in Environmental Education.

Austin goes to school at Concordia University, majoring in environmental science. He graduated from Random Lake High School in 2014. He is an avid outdoors-man and disc golf enthusiast. He currently lives in Fredonia, WI. Austin is one of our “short-term” interns (120 hours) this summer working on land stewardship.
